UPDATE: Woman fatally hit by car at Montclair intersection

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Multiple agencies are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Saturday, October 28, on Bellevue Avenue in Montclair, reports local media.

First responders arrived on the scene near Park Street, just east of Buzz Aldrin Middle School in the city’s Upper Montclair area, at about 12:15 p.m.

While details about the circumstances of the incident have not been provided, the victim, 83-year-old Vivian Folkenflik, of Montclair, suffered fatal injuries. She was rushed to Mountainside Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at 1:00 p.m., less than an hour after the crash.

No information regarding the driver has been disclosed, and no arrests or charges have been reported.

An investigation remains ongoing.
