MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A 51-year-old man has been arrested after a hit-and-run crash Saturday night that fatally injured a pedestrian in Morristown, reports local media.
The incident took place at the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Lackawanna Place. Morristown Police officers were dispatched to the scene just after 9:00 p.m.
While the circumstances of the event remain under investigation, officers arrived to find the male pedestrian had been fatally struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.
The suspect, identified as Jermaine Edwards, was later located and arrested. He faces a charge of “Leaving the Scene of Accident Resulting in Death” in the second degree and is being held at Morris County Correctional Facility as he awaits a detention hearing.
No information on the victim has been disclosed as of this writing.
