Man fatally hit by vehicle on Clinton St in East Orange

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A man died Monday morning after being hit by a car while walking to his place of work in East Orange, reports local media.

Authorities said the fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Clinton Street and Freeway Drive.

According to witnesses, a female driver tried to maneuver her car around another vehicle that was stopped at the intersection and ended up hitting the male pedestrian. The impact of the crash sent the victim several feet in the air before he fell and suffered severe head trauma. He was pronounced deceased shortly after, confirmed officials.

At this time, no pending charges against the causing driver have been reported.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate.
