HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A 74-year-old woman was fatally injured late Monday morning when she was hit by a vehicle in Bayonne’s Constable Hook neighborhood, reports local media.
The incident occurred in the area of East 22nd Street and Broadway. Bayonne Police said an officer was alerted of the pedestrian crash at around 11:50 a.m.
Authorities have not detailed the events leading up to the crash, but preliminary details show the woman was struck by a 31-year-old woman in a black Nissan. Officers arrived to find the female pedestrian suffering form a head injury.
The victim, who was rushed by EMS personnel to Jersey City Medical Center, was pronounced deceased at 12:46 p.m.
No other information has been provided, but police say the driver remained at the scene.
