BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 14-year-old Ridgewood boy was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle at an intersection in northeast Glen Rock, reports Daily Voice.
The incident took place at the corner of Prospect Street and Grove Street at around 12:50 p.m.
An early investigation shows a 40-year-old Oakland man was driving a 2016 Chevy Equinox on Prospect Street during a green light when the cyclist rode into his direct path, resulting in a crash.
Officials said the teen suffered serious injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. The Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps rushed him to the trauma unit at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center.
The driver told authorities he had not seen the cyclist entering the intersection prior to the wreck.
At this time, Glen Rock Police have determined that speed was not a factor, and that there is no cause to issue summonses.
