ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A 12-year-old girl was hospitalized with a head injury Tuesday evening after being struck by a car while riding a bike in Belleville, reports local media.
The incident took place at 122 Nolton Street, near Belleville Municipal Stadium, at around 5:50 p.m. Belleville Police and first responders arrived on the scene shortly after.
Authorities have not specified the circumstances of the event, but the child cyclist as hit by a 2007 Honda Pilot whose driver remained at the scene and cooperated with an investigation.
The girl was rushed to an area hospital with an unspecified head injury, the severity of which has not been disclosed.
No one else was reported hurt in the crash.
An investigation by the Belleville Police Traffic Bureau remains open and active.
