CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — A woman died Wednesday morning after being struck by a NJ Transit train near Lindenwold Station, according to Daily Voice.
NJ Transit officials confirmed the fatal incident occurred just south of the station, in the Kirkwood area, at around 7:45 a.m.
Few details have been released at this time, but the woman was hit by Atlantic City Rail Line train 4612, which was carrying 160 passengers and crew on board. The train had departed from Atlantic City at 6:49 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Philadelphia by 8:28 a.m.
Following the event, service in both directions between Atco and Cherry Hill was stalled temporarily.
It remains unclear what circumstances led up to the crash, but an investigation by New Jersey Transit Police remains ongoing.
