OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Authorities have shared updates after an e-bike and car crash Wednesday morning in Toms River that claimed the life of a 33-year-old man, reports NJ.com.

The fatal incident occurred on the westbound side of Route 37 at River Drive, shortly before 8:00 a.m.

A preliminary investigation found that Michael Cerrachio, a Little Egg Harbor resident, was riding an electric bicycle west on the highway’s westbound shoulder. At one point, he abruptly turned left into traffic, causing him to be hit by a car traveling in the center lane.

Cerrachio was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, confirmed officials.

Toms River Police said the driver, who remained at the scene after the crash, was found to be not at fault, and will not face charges.
