OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — A 19-year-old woman died Saturday, July 15, after a rollover crash on the Garden State Parkway in Stafford Township, according to Daily Voice.

New Jersey State Police said the fatal accident occurred on the southbound lanes at about 6:30 p.m.

It was unclear what caused the initial crash, but preliminary details indicate a Honda Civic ran off the parkway and overturned.

While the driver sustained injuries considered non-life-threatening, the young woman, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene. She has since been identified as Jessica Molina-Colmenares, of Egg Harbor Township.

A section of the southbound highway was shut down following the wreck.

Authorities said at around 7:20 p.m., a Stafford police officer was responding to the scene when his vehicle was hit by a northbound Grand Cherokee.

As a result of the second crash, the rear-seat passenger in the Jeep suffered serious injuries. Three other occupants in the Jeep and the officer all sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

The wreck had the left and center lanes of the northbound GSP blocked off for six hours, causing a significant traffic backup.

An investigation remains ongoing.
