WARREN COUNTY, NJ — A deer was struck by a car, which then caused the animal to collide with a 13-year-old cyclist Tuesday evening in Hackettstown, reports Daily Voice.
Local police responded to the scene in the 600 block of Willow Grove Street, near Hackettstown Medical Center, at about 7:03 p.m.
A preliminary investigation determined that a southbound vehicle hit a deer that had run into the roadway, which then caused the deer to strike the teen cyclist.
Officers and first responders arrived to find the teen suffering from minor injuries and the bicycle damaged. By then, the driver of the striking vehicle had fled the scene.
No information on the condition of the deer has been shared.
As of this writing, authorities also have not released a description of the hit-and-run vehicle and/or suspect.
