Pedestrian hit, critically hurt by vehicle on US-1 in Edison

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — One person was critically injured early Wednesday due to a pedestrian crash on U.S. Route 1 in Edison, according to local media.

Local police and EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene at the intersection with Old Post Road shortly after 3:00 a.m.

An investigation into the sequence of events remains in progress, but first responders arrived to find a pedestrian lying on the roadway and suffering from serious injuries consistent with a crash.

All travel lanes in the area were shut down as officials tended to the victim and worked the scene.

Authorities have not indicated whether the driver remained at the scene, and no charges have been reported as of this writing.
