BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A man died last Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Route 17 in north Ramsey, according to Daily Voice.

The fatal incident occurred on the left southbound lane of NJ-17, near a BP gas station, on December 24 at around 8:00 p.m.

It remains unclear what led up to the crash, Ramsey Police had the highway closed at Spring Street. A medical helicopter was initially called to land near the Ramsey Square shopping center across the highway, but the summons was later cancelled.

First responders transported the victim by ambulance to a local hospital, where the patient was pronounced deceased.

Officials with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification were at the scene to examine evidence, and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was also alerted to the event.
