PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A 27-year-old man from Little Falls died Monday night after a motorcycle accident involving another vehicle on Interstate 80 in Paterson, reports local media.
New Jersey State Police said the fatal wreck took place on the westbound side of I-80 near mile marker 58.7.
According to a preliminary investigation, the man was operating a Suzuki motorcycle westbound when the bike overturned, causing him to eject. Moments later, the rider was hit by a driver in a Mercedes-Benz C230.
The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased, confirmed NJSP.
No injuries to the driver of the Mercedes were reported.
Authorities had the left three westbound lanes of I-80 shut down for about three hours following the crash, causing a major traffic backup.
An investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing.
