Man dead after being rear-ended by Freightliner truck on Rt. 29 in South Jersey

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – A driver died after his vehicle was rear-ended by a Freightliner truck on Route 29 in South Jersey early yesterday morning, according to the Daily Voice.

The collision happened in Hamilton Township on southbound Route 29 near milepost 0.6 at around 12:45 a.m.

A Chevrolet GMT 400 was stopped on the right shoulder when it was rear-ended by a Freightliner M2 pickup truck headed southbound. The pickup then burst into flames and became fully engulfed.

The driver of the pickup truck, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead after the crash.

The truck driver, a 50-year-old man, was not hurt in the collision.

The accident remains under investigation.
