UNION COUNTY, NJ — A man died Monday afternoon after being struck by a train in Summit, according to Daily Voice.

The fatal incident took place on the tracks at Summit Station, near Summit Village Green, at 1:20 p.m.

While the circumstances of the event remain under investigation, the male pedestrian was hit by a northbound Morris and Essex line train that was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken.

The victim died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, confirmed officials. His identity remains undisclosed at this time.

None of the 45 customers or crew on board the train were reported hurt.

Authorities had service on the Morris and Essex line suspended in both directions, creating delays for about 60 minutes. Train passengers were shuttled by bus between Summit and Madison stations in the meantime.

An investigation by New Jersey Transit Police was underway.
