ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Authorities responded to the scene of a semi-truck accident early Saturday that caused significant delays on Interstate 280 in East Orange, reports local media.
The accident occurred on the west side of I-280 near Exit 12, approaching South Oraton Parkway and the Garden State Parkway. It was first reported at about 3:30 a.m.
Officials say the tractor-trailer, which had become jackknifed, went on to crash into the eastbound divider.
New Jersey State Police and multiple other first responders were on the scene working to clear the accident, which caused a major traffic backup.
At this time, no information on the driver’s condition has been provided.
