OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — A man died Thursday night after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding a bicycle on Route 70 in Lakewood Township, reports local media.
The fatal incident occurred at the intersection with New Hampshire Avenue, at about 8:12 p.m.
According to Ocean County Police, the man was riding a bicycle westbound on the south shoulder of Route 70 when he was hit by a blue full-size, four-door pickup truck, whose driver fled westbound toward Manchester Township. Officials said the suspect vehicle likely has damage to its front-end and driver’s side headlamp.
It was not immediately clear whether the victim died at the scene or at a hospital.
No further information has been shared at this time, but an investigation remains ongoing.
