Cyclist hit, hurt by car on Terrace Ave in Hasbrouck Heights

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A man in his 50s was hospitalized Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Hasbrouck Heights, reports Daily Voice.

The incident occurred on a span of Terrace Avenue near Hilton Hasbrouck Heights/Meadowlands, just after 9:00 p.m. Hasbrouck Heights police, fire crews, and EMS personnel were all called to the scene.

According to local police, the cyclist, who admitted to consuming alcohol just prior, was riding near the top of the Route 17 offramp, in an area not designated for crossing. At one point, he was hit by a driver in a two-door Audi, who stopped and then immediately alerted authorities.

The rider, who suffered injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center.

The NJ-17 exit ramp was shut down during the crash clearance and initial investigation.
