BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two people were injured Sunday evening when an elderly driver crashed an SUV into the Green Dragon Asian Cuisine restaurant in Fair Lawn, reports Daily Voice.
The incident occurred off Fair Lawn Avenue on February 5, just before 5:30 p.m.
It was unclear what led up to the crash, but an 82-year-old Elmwood Park resident drove a red Ford Escape SUV up a curb before the vehicle struck two bollards and slammed through the front windows of the business’ dining room, which was occupied.
Two men, a 41-year-old customer and a 35-year-old employee who both suffered injuries due to flying debris, were taken to Ridgewood’s Valley Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center, respectively. Officials said their injuries are not considered serious.
No charges have been reported at this time, but the building sustained significant damage to its front exterior and dining room, including “minor structural damage.”
Tow crews were called to the scene to remove the SUV for impounding after the vehicle was reversed out of the building on its own power.
An investigation was underway.
