2 Injured After Speeder Flees Pursuit, Wrong-Way Crash

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ – Two people were injured after a man from Queens who was allegedly speeding crashed into another vehicle while fleeing a police pursuit in Ridgefield Park late Friday night.

According to the Daily Voice, the incident began at about 10:30 p.m. on Route 46, as a police officer attempted to pull over a man who was allegedly speeding. The driver, 26-year-old Romy D. Fabre, of Jamaica, Queens, allegedly then sped away from the officer, beginning a police chase.

He went off the main highway, then turned into the northbound lanes of the Main Street bypass and was headed southbound.

He collided with a Ford F-350 pickup truck, then allegedly attempted to flee the scene on foot.

The two occupants of the pickup truck sustained undisclosed injuries in the crash.

Fabre refused treatment of a hand injury and was taken into police custody. He is being held in the Bergen County Jail on multiple charges, including among others vehicular assault, aggravated assault, and hit-and-run.
