BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two people were arrested early Sunday after a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended with a fiery crash in Rutherford, reports Daily Voice.
The collision occurred on the eastbound lanes of Route 3, just west of Orient Way, at around 1:30 a.m.
Authorities said officers were pursuing three suspects in a stolen SUV that led them from Belleville to Rutherford. After the crash, the vehicle’s three occupants exited and fled the scene on foot into a nearby neighborhood.
Rutherford Police and a Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit were able to apprehend two of the suspects, who were turned in to Belleville Police. At this time, the third suspect remains at large.
Officials said no one was seriously hurt, but part of the highway was shut down as Rutherford fire crews worked to extinguish flames on the SUV, which had caught fire after the crash.
