GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ — A 31-year-old Glassboro woman died early Saturday after a collision that seriously injured another on Route 42 in Washington Township, reports Daily Voice.

New Jersey State Police said the fatal collision occurred on the northbound lanes of the highway on August 20, at about 3:46 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 27-year-old Berlin woman was driving a Jeep northbound when, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle traveled to the left of the roadway and collided with the bridge support.

Moments later, the Jeep caught fire and erupted into flames.

The Glassboro woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died as a result of her injuries, confirms NJSP.

Authorities said the driver suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. No updates on her condition have been shared at this time.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear, but an investigation was in progress.
