HACKENSACK, NJ- According to Daily Voice, a 76-year-old resident of North Bergen was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash on Thursday night in Hackensack.
At approximately 8:30pm, Carol Ventura was in the crosswalk of the intersection of Summit Avenue and Passaic Street when she was hit by a vehicle. The 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck was turning onto eastbound Passaic Street and had a green light.
Subsequently, Ventura was struck by a landscaping truck’s trailer that traveled straight into the intersection with a green light. She was pronounced dead soon after at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Both the driver of the pickup truck, a 42-year-old from Rochelle Park, and the landscaping trailer driver, a 51-year-old from Paramus, claimed that they did not see Ventura in the crosswalk until after she had been hit.
Both drivers remained at the scene of the accident. This incident is still under investigation. We will be monitoring for updates.
