ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A NPD officer was injured Thursday morning when he was hit by a vehicle while operating a department motorcycle in Newark, reports local media.
The incident unfolded at the intersection of McCarter Highway and Emmet Street at about 11:11 a.m.
Newark Police have not said what led up to the wreck, but the officer, who was working as part of the Traffic Unit, was riding a motorcycle that was struck by an unspecified vehicle.
First responders had the officer transported to University Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. He was last listed in stable condition.
No other major injuries were reported following the crash.
An investigation remains open and ongoing.
