UPDATE: Man identified after fatal Hamilton Township crash

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A 47-year-old man has been identified as the driver who was killed early Sunday due to a crash off Interstate 295 in Hamilton Township, reports Daily Voice.

The accident occurred on the northbound lanes near milepost 63.2, just south of Cypress Lane. It was first reported at about 7:25 a.m.

According to New Jersey State Police, the victim, a resident of Lawrenceville, was driving a Hyundai Tucson northbound when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway. The Hyundai went up a nearby embankment and was airborne before it rolled, hit a chain-link fence and then a group of trees. It then came to an uncontrolled stop. Officials arrived on the scene to find the vehicle partially submerged in a body of water.

The male driver was pronounced deceased on the scene, confirmed NJSP.

No other information has been shared, but an investigation remains ongoing.
