Driver dies after two-car wreck on US-9 in Howell Township

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — A collision early Sunday on U.S. Highway 9 in Howell Township claimed the life of a 69-year-old man, according to local media.

The fatal accident happened at the intersection with Aldrich Road, near Aldrich Plaza, at about 2:53 a.m.

No information has been shared regarding the cause and nature of the crash, but the victim, a Lakewood resident, was driving one of the involved vehicles. It was unclear whether he died at the scene or at a hospital.

No other major injuries have been confirmed.

Multiple agencies, including the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Howell Township Police, are working a joint investigation.
