BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 39-year-old DWI driver from Wayne has been charged after a crash last Friday in Ridgewood that injured himself and two others, according to local media.

Ridgewood Police responded to the scene at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Rock Road on March 3, shortly after 1:40 a.m.

A preliminary investigation found the driver to have been intoxicated at the time his 2022 Honda Accord veered off of the roadway and collided with a tree.

Two passengers suffered serious bodily injuries and had to be transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center.

The male driver also sustained bodily injuries and was taken to St. Joseph’s. He has since been charged with “third-degree assault by auto resulting in serious bodily injury” (two counts). He also received multiple motor vehicle summons, including “driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain lane, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container.” He is expected to appear in Hackensack’s Central Judicial Processing Court on March 17.
