BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 24-year-old Paterson man has been arrested and charged after a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash Monday morning in Glen Rock, according to Daily Voice.

The fatal incident occurred on Lincoln Avenue, between Dixie Avenue and Parker Avenue, just after 6:30 a.m.

Authorities said an 83-year-old Hawthorne woman was crossing the street when she was hit by the suspect’s 2007 Honda CRV. The impact of the crash sent the female pedestrian to the opposite end of the roadway, leaving clothing thrown around. Witnesses said the suspect then sped northbound on Lincoln Avenue.

The victim was rushed to Ridgewood’s The Valley Hospital, where she died from her injuries shortly after.

On February 1 at about 6:45 a.m., two days after the crash, the suspect was driving to his factory job when was stopped and pulled over less than a block from the crash site. Glen Park Police noted he was driving the striking vehicle, which showed a dented hood, remaining tape on what appeared to be a replacement windshield, and pieces of clothing still on the grille.

After being interviewed by detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Investigations Unit, he was charged with “fleeing a fatal accident, endangering an injured victim,” and avoiding arrest. In additions, the suspect was issued several motor-vehicle summonses. He has since been booked into Bergen County Jail and is expected to make his first appearance in Hackensack’s Central Judicial Processing Court.
