PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — One person died Friday morning after an apparent pedestrian collision on an Interstate 80 ramp in Paterson, reports local media.
Paterson Police were dispatched to the scene at a Madison Avenue ramp to I-80 at around 5:35 a.m.
The circumstances of the pedestrian’s death remain under investigation, but officers and first responders arrived to find the victim severely injured and lying in the roadway. Despite life-saving measures administered at the scene, the victim was pronounced deceased.
While preliminary details indicate the victim was struck by a car, a confirmation from New Jersey State Police or the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office remains forthcoming.
At this time, authorities have not released any information regarding a potential driver and/or striking vehicle.
The case is being handled by Paterson Police and New Jersey State Police.
