BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two people were injured Wednesday morning when their car hit a utility pole near the United States Postal Service office in Midland Park, reports Daily Voice.

The accident occurred on Godwin Avenue, a little south of Cross Avenue, at around 4:45 a.m. Midland Park police and firefighters, along with Ridgewood police, responded to the scene shortly after.

It was unclear what caused the crash, but a Hyundai hatchback struck and split a pole, downing utility wires onto the roadway. The vehicle then proceeded to hit a corner of a nearby building up the street. A photo taken at the scene shows significant damage to the vehicle’s front-end and rear.

Two occupants in the car suffered injuries not considered serious, but officials did not say whether they were taken to a hospital.

A section of Godwin Avenue was shut down as utility crews changed out the damaged pole. The crash did not appear to impact power usage in the area.

An investigation by the Midland Police Department was underway.
