SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A Hightstown woman was severely injured after an accident on Route 1 North in Northumberland Way on Tuesday morning, May 5, sources say.

At around 8:38 a.m. the 48-year-old woman was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue and collided with a dump truck.

The dump-truck driver, a 24-year-old Staten Island man, attempted to avoid the woman, but his vehicle swerved, overturned, and caught fire.

The injured woman was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, while the driver of the dump truck did not suffer any serious injuries.

No charges have been filed, but the investigation continues.
