HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A 36-year-old woman died Sunday afternoon after a multi-vehicle collision near Bayside Park in Jersey City, reports local media.
The fatal accident occurred over a span of Garfield Avenue between Danforth Avenue and Wegman Parkway. Officers with the Jersey City Police Department responded to the scene after receiving a call at around 11:58 a.m.
Little information has been provided, but preliminary details indicate the woman was traveling in a Chevy Tahoe when the vehicle collided with multiple vehicles along the road before coming to rest.
Police arrived to the victim unresponsive. By 12:26 p.m., first responders pronounced her deceased at the scene.
Five other people among a total of six damaged vehicles were transported to Jersey City Medical Center for unspecified injuries.
Authorities have not disclosed a possible cause of the crash, but an investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department remains underway.
