Woman dies after car hits loose wheel on GSP in Toms River

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — A 46-year-0ld woman died Tuesday morning after a crash involving a dislodged wheel on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River, reports Daily Voice.

The New Jersey State Police said the fatal incident occurred on the southbound lanes near milepost 85.7, at about 5:31 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate the woman, Elaina S. Clarke, was driving southbound when her vehicle collided with a wheel that had come off of a Ford F-250 pickup truck. Authorities said the wheel had become dislodged during a prior crash.

The woman then veered to the left of the highway, causing her car to crash into the rear of the disabled pickup.

The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased, confirmed officials.

No one was in the pickup at the time of the crash, and no other injuries were reported.

The NJSP continues to investigate.
