CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ — A 61-year-old woman died Monday afternoon after her vehicle slammed into a business in Bridgeton, according to Daily Voice.
The fatal accident happened at the building that houses Book Outlet Inc., located at 540 North Laurel Street, at the intersection with American Avenue. Bridgeton Police and first responders were called to the scene at around 1:44 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate the victim, Maria A. Sorantino, a local resident, was driving a 2018 Jeep Renegade westbound on American Avenue. For reasons still unclear, the vehicle continued through the intersection with North Laurel Street and collided with the bookstore.
The victim died from her injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.
No other major injuries have been reported following the event.
An investigation remains underway.
