UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed in Route 18 Crash Identified

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ- As reported previously, officials have identified the driver and the victim in the Route 18 pedestrian crash in early August, according to NJ.com.

The pedestrian has been identified as 55-year-old Julius Filep, a resident of Edison. The on-duty officer who struck him early Sunday has been identified as Officer Mitchell Ngai. The accident occurred at approximately 3:35am near Lake Avenue on Route 18, when Ngai struck him. He was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.
