CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ — A 28-year-old suspect has been arrested after a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night in Bridgeton that left a girl critically hurt, reports Daily Voice.

The pedestrian crash took place on East Broad Street, in front of a Wawa convenience store, at 7:07 p.m.

Local police said the victim, a 10-year-old girl, was crossing the road on foot toward the store when she was struck by a driver in a white SUV. The SUV was then seen continuing north on Bank Street Extension toward East Commerce Street.

The young girl was taken by airlift to Cooper University Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

On Thursday, May 11, authorities arrested Bridgeport resident Sierra A. Thomas in connection to the incident. She was charged with “knowingly leaving a motor vehicle accident that resulted in serious injury and endangering an injured victim.”

An investigation remains ongoing.
