WARREN COUNTY, NJ — A driver was issued a summons Thursday night after their truck struck multiple emergency vehicles on Interstate 80 near Allamuchy Township, reports Daily Voice.
The collision occurred near mile marker 17.4, near Gibbs Lane, on February 23 at about 11:15 p.m.
According to New Jersey State Police and the Allamuchy Fire Department, multiple police vehicles had their emergency lights activated in the left and center lanes to block off part of I-80 for a crash response. At one point, a driver in a rotator truck that was towing a refrigerated box truck failed to move over, hitting the cruisers and an Allamcuhy-Green First Aid Squad ambulance.
The impact of the crash left the cruisers significantly damaged, and the ambulance and a firetruck with minor damage.
Authorities said the troopers were not in their vehicles at the time and avoided major injuries, but an EMT inside the affected ambulance suffered a minor injury.
The driver of the tow truck, who was not reported hurt, received a summons for careless driving.
An investigation remains underway.
