UNION COUNTY, NJ — A 16-year-old Brooklyn resident was hospitalized Friday night after a crash involving a stolen motorcycle in downtown Linden, reports Shore News Network.
The collision occurred at the intersection of South Stiles Street and West Stimpson Avenue, shortly after 8:15 p.m.
An early investigation shows a 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle was heading northbound on South Stiles Street when it collided with a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox that was turning left onto West Stimpson Avenue.
The Brooklyn boy, who was one of the motorcycle’s two riders, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Newark University Hospital in critical condition.
Linden Police said the second rider got up after the crash and fled the scene on foot. Officials later learned the motorcycle had been reported stolen in New York City.
No injuries to anyone in the Chevrolet were reported.
At this time, no further information has been provided.
