MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Authorities are searching for two men who fled a crash involving a stolen vehicle Thursday morning in Holmdel, according to NJ.com.

Holmdel Police said the wreck occurred in the area of Middletown Road and Crawfords Corner Road, shortly after 2:00 a.m.

The events unfolded when an officer spotted a BMW matching the description of a vehicle reported stolen out of Orange. Preliminary details indicate the suspect vehicle had exited off the Garden State Parkway and onto Red Hill Road when its driver noticed the patrol car and sped away. The vehicle then crashed at the Middletown Road and Crawfords Corner intersection, just southwest of the parkway offramp. Three male suspects were seen exiting the wrecked vehicle and fleeing on foot into the nearby woods.

Officers with both Holmdel and Middletown police departments searched for the men overnight. By 8:20 a.m., one suspect was apprehended and taken into custody.

Authorities ask anyone with information or surveillance footage indicating the whereabouts of the other two suspects to contact the Holmdel Police Department. The HPD added that while the suspects are not believed to pose a danger to the community, police should be called immediately and all personal approaches should be avoided.
