RUTHERFORD, NJ – ABC 7 NY reports five people occupying a SUV have been killed after it crashed into the rear end of a construction vehicle on Sunday night.
The accident happened at an ongoing construction site on the westbound lanes of Route 3 shortly before 11:00 p.m.
Officials say that the front-loader was in transit when the SUV struck it, but the specifics of the collision are still sketchy.
A a man, two women, a teenage girl, and a young boy were all killed in the incident.
Westbound Route 3 was shut down and reopened before 6:30 a.m.
The crash is still under investigation.
