MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A 25-year-old Robbinsville patrolman was hurt late Saturday when he was hit by a vehicle on U.S. Route 130 near Windsor Township, reports Daily Voice.

The Robbinsville Police Department said the incident took place on the southbound lanes near Voelbel Road at around 11:30 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate the officer was helping a driver in a disabled vehicle when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.

Authorities said the striking driver, a 52-year-old East Windsor woman, fled southbound from the scene without stopping to render aid. She was later arrested at her home and has since been charged with “second-degree aggravated assault on a police officer,” and “fourth-degree assault by auto.” She also received several motor vehicle summonses.

EMS crews rushed the officer to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition as of early Sunday.

An investigation by the RPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit remains ongoing.
