Route 80 in Pine Brook closed due to truck fire

PINE BROOK, NJ- A serious truck fire on Tuesday afternoon caused shut downs and delays on Route 80 in Pine Brook, according to local media sources.

At approximately 11:30am, a truck caught fire in the westbound lanes of I-80 near milepost 49.8. The driver was able to make it into the shoulder of the roadway before firefighters and officials arrived to assist in extinguishing the blaze. The blaze was extinguished about 30 minutes later, but the roadway was closed indefinitely.

The fire seemed to originate from the engine of the tractor-trailer. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. No injuries have been reported at this time, but we will be monitoring for updates.
