Pedestrian hit, injured by freight train in Paterson

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — One person was hospitalized with a broken leg Tuesday night after being struck by a CSX train in Paterson, according to Daily Voice.

The incident occurred on the tracks near Lafayette Street and East 16th Street, in the Wrigley Park neighborhood, at about 10:00 p.m.

Authorities have not released details regarding the circumstances of the event, but the unidentified pedestrian was conscious and alert when first responders arrived on the scene. The victim, who suffered a fractured femur, was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center.

It remains unclear why the victim was in the area at the time of the accident.

An investigation by CSX police was underway.
