BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — One person died Monday morning after a pedestrian crash involving a hit-and-run driver on the Garden State Parkway in Elmwood Park, reports Daily Voice.
The fatal events unfolded on the northbound parkway near milepost 159.7, approaching Market Street. It was first reported at around 5:56 a.m.
New Jersey State Police said one unknown vehicle was traveling northbound when it hit a pedestrian in the roadway and fled the scene. A BMW 330 that was behind the fleeing vehicle then ran over the victim.
First responders pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
No further details have been shared, but the driver of the BMW remained at the scene as Clifton firefighters, EMS personnel, and Elmwood Police arrived.
