Passenger dies after car vs. dump truck crash in Pittsgrove

SALEM COUNTY, NJ — A two-vehicle wreck Wednesday morning in Pittsgrove Township claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman and left another person seriously hurt, reports NJ.com.

The fatal accident unfolded at the intersection of Centerton and Garden roads, in the Olivet area, at about 5:30 a.m.

According to New Jersey State Police, the woman was a passenger in a car traveling northbound on Centerton Road. Shortly after the car entered the intersection, it collided with a dump truck heading westbound on Garden Road.

The female passenger in the car, identified as Kayla Dowling, of Blackwood, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities said the driver of the car suffered serious injuries, but no information on the dump truck driver’s condition has been shared.

Details remain limited as an investigation remains underway, but NJ.com noted that motorists on Centerton Road have the right of way.
