MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a major accident that took place on the New Jersey Turnpike Thursday morning.
According to NJ.com, a minivan was disabled in the inner lanes of the southbound New Jersey Turnpike between exits 9 and 8A. At about 4:30 a.m., an SUV crashed into the disabled vehicle, ejecting the van’s front-seat passenger. The driver then exited the vehicle and was also hit by the SUV.
The passenger was identified as 40-year-old Jadira Espinal. The 20-year-old female driver was seriously injured.
The driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old man from Woodbridge, was not injured in the incident.
Local authorities are continuing to investigate the accident.
