One killed, child and six others hospitalized after Newark fire

NEWARK, NJ – A late-night fire in Newark yesterday claimed the life of one man and injured a child and six others, according to NJ.com.

Authorities received reports of a fire at a home on Magazine Street around 11 p.m.

The flames spread from the second story of the home to the top floor, then to a nearby building, according to a statement by authorities.

The fire was brought under control just before midnight.

One man died in the fire. There is no information regarding his identity at this time.

Seven people in total were sent to the hospital. One of the victims is a child, and two others are in critical condition. The fire displaced 15 people, according to the report.

The blaze remains under investigation at this time.
