ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP, NJ – An off-duty police officer was hospitalized after being struck by a driver in Cliffwood Beach on Monday.
According to the Daily Voice, Lt. Craig Hausmann was struck by a vehicle near North Concourse and Wayside Drive. Hausmann had been attempting to question the person for driving erratically in the area. After they struck the officer, they fled the scene.
After investigating, authorities were able to locate the vehicle, a Nissan Altima, and its owner, Christopher Uszenski from Old Bridge.
Uszenski was charged with first-degree attempted murder and third-degree knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision with serious bodily injury.
