MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — A New Jersey State trooper was injured Monday morning when their vehicle hit multiple trees off Interstate 195 near Upper Freehold, reports Daily Voice.
New Jersey State Police officials said the wreck occurred on the westbound side of I-195 at milepost 13.1, at around 8:30 a.m.
An early investigation indicates the trooper was driving an unmarked troop vehicle westbound when, for reasons still unclear, the car ran off the left side of the roadway. It briefly returned to the roadway but then traveled off the right side and down an embankment before striking several trees.
The trooper was transported to a local hospital with injuries considered minor.
No other information has been released, as an investigation into the cause of the accident remains underway.
