PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — One person died early Tuesday morning after a collision on Interstate 80 in Wayne, reports local media.
New Jersey State Police officials said the fatal accident occurred on the eastbound lanes of I-80. Troopers were dispatched to the scene at around 3:40 a.m.
The circumstances behind the crash remain undisclosed, but the NJSP said one person was found unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from serious injuries. The victim, whose identity has not been shared at this time, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No one else was reported injured following the accident. It was not immediately clear how many vehicles were involved.
Motorists faced delays on I-80 as NJSP detectives conducted an investigation, which remains ongoing.
